Attention Parents & Supporters!!
We need funds to host our upcoming USCF-rated tournament for kids on August 1st! Help us reach our goal of $500 and ensure that your child gets a chance to partake in this amazing opportunity. Thank you!
Golden Bay Chess Foundation (GBC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded and run entirely by high school students. We are committed to making in-person chess more accessible to kids across the Bay Area, as well as making our region's chess community more connected! We believe children ages 5-12 learn chess best through real, face-to-face interaction: real games and in-person lessons prove to be much more effective than a screen. Because of this, GBC aims to host such opportunities, giving kids the chance to meet, collaborate, and play chess together in a fun environment.
We proudly offer free tutoring sessions and mini tournaments aimed at fostering an appreciation for the game of chess among the younger generation. Currently, these sessions are held at the Centerville and Fremont Main libraries, typically around 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturdays. These events serve as a unique opportunity to unite our community, filling a void in Fremont where such events for kids are scarce. Our sessions always attract new students, and our volunteers are equipped to properly introduce your kid to this amazing game. Through our events, we've managed to conduct 50+ lessons and have tutored over 200 kids!
